Nuclear Medicine is a branch of medicine that deals with the use of radioactive substances in research, diagnosis, and treatment.
Nuclear medicine is deals with medical imaging that helps physicians identify, diagnose, and treat certain conditions by using small amounts of radioactive material. Nuclear medicine is especially valuable in pinpointing molecular activity, which enables doctors to judge the severity of a condition.
This is an under graduate allied health science specialization course. The course is provided under the affiliation of The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R Medical University. It is a four years program including one year internship.
It combines elements of Applied Anatomy, Physiology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Computing with patient care skills. Radioactive tracers are administered to patients in order to diagnose and/or treat disease.
A Nuclear Medicine Technologist works under the guidance and direction of Nuclear Medicine Physicians for preparation of radioactive drugs and administers them to patients in order to create images that cause abnormal areas of the body to appear different from normal images. They operate the equipment that creates these images in a patient’s body.

Cardiac Care Technology is an under graduate allied health science specialization course. Cardiac technicians prepare patients and assist doctors for Angiography, Cardiac Catheterization, open heart surgery and the implanting of pace makers. Cardiac technicians monitor patient during these cardiac procedures. They assist doctors take images of the heart and peripheral blood vessels through both invasive and noninvasive procedures, such as catheterization, balloon angioplasty and perform individually in echo cardiogram.
The course is four years program including one year internship. Students after successful completion they get placed in department of cardiology, cardiac catheterization lab, cardiac diagnostic centers.

Physician assistants work in collaboration with licensed physicians to provide medical care to patients. This course to provide basic theoretical and practical knowledge relevant to current Clinical practice Including Patient Care. The Candidate will be trained in Emergency Care, Monitoring of Vital Signs , Monitoring the Patient in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and in Medical and Surgical ward to assist the Physician. The Candidate will also get necessary training in handling instrument which are routinely used in Patient care.
Physician assistant is an allied health professional course. It is a four years program including one year internship. The Physician Assistants works under a doctor’s supervision. Both, the doctor as well as the PA, share patient care responsibility. Physician assistants may also assist doctors in surgical procedures but they themselves are not licensed to perform surgery.

Operation Theatre & Anesthesia Technology is an under graduate allied health science specialization course. It is a four years program including one year internship. The main objective of B.Sc. in Operation Theatre and Anesthesia Technology course is to equip students with the knowledge of anesthetic equipment, their usage and how to monitor the patients. They trained to operate ventilators, monitors, defibrillators, C- Arm and infection control policy and procedures in the operation theatre. They assist doctors in ICUs, emergency wards, and operation theatre.
An OT technologist also helps surgeon in the surgical operations and looks after the drugs required for surgery, drapes, anesthetic gases, linen and their sterilization, etc., They are responsible for direct and indirect patient care, equipment set up and operation procedures.
The main aim of the program is to teach and train the candidate in operation theater technology and management of operation theater along with handling a wide range of operating instruments including electronic and advanced equipment used in modern operation theaters.
